HEARING PROTECTION
3M™ 1100 Disposable Foam Earplugs (Uncorded)
High noise reduction at an affordable price. Made from soft, slow-recovery foam designed to expand and conform to the ear canal for comfort and protection.
Product Description
The 3M™ 1100 Earplugs offer high noise reduction at an affordable price. 3M Disposable Foam Earplugs, made from slow-recovery foam, help provide a combination of comfort and hearing protection for users. Once the foam earplugs are compressed into small cylinders (rolled down), they are easy to insert into ears where the slow recovery foam expands to fit the ear canals. These disposable earplugs come without cords.
Key Features
- Soft, slow-recovery foam designed to help fit the ear canal
- Disposable, uncorded foam earplugs
- High noise reduction for loud shop and jobsite environments
Fit Testing / Validation
Compatible with the 3M™ E-A-Rfit™ Dual-Ear Validation System, which provides an accurate quantitative assessment of how much noise reduction a hearing protector provides to an individual worker.
Ratings & Guidance
U.S. EPA specifies the NRR as the measure of hearing protector noise reduction. However, 3M makes no warranties as to the suitability of the NRR for this purpose. 3M strongly recommends personal fit testing of hearing protectors.
Proper Insertion (Critical for Real Noise Reduction)
- Roll down the earplug into a tight, small cylinder (compress fully).
- Pull ear up and back to straighten the ear canal.
- Insert and hold the plug in place until it expands (slow-recovery foam expands to fit the canal).
- Seal check: In a loud area, your environment should sound noticeably quieter. If not, re-roll and reinsert.
Pro Tip
Most “earplug failures” are fit failures. Noise reduction depends heavily on insertion depth and seal. If you can still hear sharp, high-pitched noise clearly, you likely don’t have a full seal.
Important Notes, Warnings & Limitations
Research suggests that users may receive less noise reduction than indicated by the attenuation label value(s) on the packaging due to variation in fit, fitting skill, and motivation of the user. Refer to applicable regulations or guidance on how to adjust attenuation label values. It is recommended that the NRR be reduced by 50% to better estimate typical protection.
No warranties on NRR suitability: U.S. EPA specifies the NRR as the measure of hearing protector noise reduction. However, 3M makes no warranties as to the suitability of the NRR for this purpose. 3M strongly recommends personal fit testing of hearing protectors.
Recommended Use Cases
Ideal for turbine HVLP work areas, compressors, sanding operations, power tools, shop production lines, and general industrial environments where comfortable disposable protection is needed.
