Maroon prep pads are a medium scuff level—aggressive enough to remove oxidation and dull old finishes, yet controlled enough for primer and coating prep without gouging like heavy paper abrasives.

How to use (fast field method)

Clean first: Remove wax/soap film/oils with your cleaner/degreaser.
Scuff evenly: Use moderate pressure and consistent passes—hit edges and contours.
Blow/vacuum dust: Then wipe with a clean, lint-free towel.
Prime/coat: Apply your bonding step/primer per system instructions.

Pro tip

Cut pads into halves or thirds for tight areas and to extend life. Keep one pad for “clean scuff” work and a separate pad for heavier oxidation so you don’t contaminate your finish prep.
