PRIMER & BONDING LAYERS

Professional refinishing systems should be organized by layer position, not by habit. Some jobs need molecular bonding, some need structural film build, some need adhesion bridging, and some require substrate correction before the coating system can even begin.

System order matters. The surface tells you what layer comes next. Choose based on substrate condition, coating stack, and the demands of the job.
Bonding Layers Epoxy Foundation Adhesion Bridges Substrate Correction

A refinishing system is built in layers. The right bonding or primer layer can determine whether the topcoat performs for years or fails early from poor adhesion, improper build, or an uncorrected substrate problem.

Build the system in the right order. Molecular bonding, structural priming, adhesion promotion, and correction layers each serve a different purpose — and confusing them leads to failures.

1 Bonding / Coupling Layer

Silane-based wipe-on bonding agents engineered to create covalent molecular adhesion between hard mineral substrates and topcoats without adding unnecessary film build.

Purpose: Molecular bond to porcelain, ceramic, and other properly prepared dense substrates.

2 Structural Epoxy Primer Layer

Modified polyamide epoxy primer systems designed to provide structural adhesion, encapsulation, and long-term immersion durability where a true foundation layer is required.

Purpose: Foundation layer for full-stack refinishing systems.

3 Adhesion Promoters for Plastics & Composites

Solvent-borne bridge chemistry engineered for ABS, fiberglass, cultured marble, laminates, and other non-porous substrates where mechanical adhesion alone is not enough.

Purpose: Create an adhesion bridge before primer or topcoat application.

4 Corrosion Stabilization Layer

Acid-modified or non-reactive stabilization primers formulated to neutralize, seal, and isolate rusted or compromised metal before building the remainder of the coating system.

Purpose: Substrate correction before primer or topcoat application.
