It creates a perfect surface profile for bonding to porcelain and tile, ensuring a smooth and reliable finish. Safe-Etch Gel's unique gel formulation allows for easy application on vertical surfaces without the risk of running or damaging surrounding areas.

Application Instructions:

1. Surface Preparation:

   • Ensure surrounding surfaces are protected before applying Safe-Etch Gel. Thoroughly clean the surface using Scumbuster Cleaner (Step 1 of the Shark Grip Coatings Surface Preparation System, Part Number SB-G). This step is crucial for removing deeply embedded residues that can hinder the etching process.

2. Application:

   • Apply a liberal amount of Safe-Etch Gel using an inexpensive natural hair bristle brush. Ensure complete coverage of the surface to be refinished.
   • Allow Safe-Etch Gel to dwell on the surface for 10 minutes on light-colored porcelain bathtubs or 15 minutes for darker porcelain bathtubs. The unique formulation of Safe-Etch Gel prevents over-etching, leaving the surface with the ideal profile for our spray-on epoxy primer (Part Number SG1P) or our Wipe-On Primer/Bonding Agent (Part Number PB001).

3. Rinsing:

   • After the dwell time, rinse well using a 3M Scotch-Brite Maroon General Purpose Hand Pad (Part Number 07447) with warm water, ensuring that all residues are removed. Wipe the surface until completely dry.
