SharkThane Plus Red Label Reducer is formulated exclusively for SharkThane Plus (Red Label) to unlock maximum flow, gloss, leveling, and spray transfer — without weakening the chemistry of the coating. This reducer is part of the SharkGrip engineered system, not an afterthought.

Mixing & Reduction Guide

SharkThane Plus is a high-solids, low-VOC urethane system. That means most of the gallon is solid film — not liquid carrier. To spray it correctly, your turbine must supply enough air energy to atomize it without destroying the chemistry.

The base mix is always: 4 Parts Part A to 1 Part Part B (Catalyst)
Reduction is then adjusted based on turbine power and spray technique.

Example — Small Steel Bathtub

Part A: 12 oz
Part B (Catalyst): 3 oz

Reduction depends on turbine:

2–4 Stage Turbine: 3–4 oz Reducer
6 Stage Turbine: 1–1.5 oz Reducer

Why smaller turbines force over-reduction (and why that’s dangerous):

Modern low-VOC coatings like SharkThane Plus are over 70% solids. Smaller 2–4 stage turbines do not generate enough atomization energy, so operators are forced to dump more reducer just to get it to spray. That destroys the chemical balance — weakening crosslinking, reducing durability, increasing VOCs, and creating long-term failure risks. It’s like adding three cups of milk to a pancake recipe that only called for one — it will never bake right.
